“ENGAGE US! Art for Social Change.” - Artist’s Panel Discussion
On Thursday, February 2nd, Queens University of Charlotte saw the opening of our most recent gallery exhibition in the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement: “ENGAGE US! Art for Social Change.” This exhibition centers Charlotte-based Latin-American artists and activists, presenting a vibrant and contemporary gallery of mixed-media work that incorporates both art and technology.
Featured artists include Irisol Gonzalez, Rosalia Torres-Weiner, Edwin Gil, and Nico Amortegui, each of whom investigated their artistic themes and processes in conversation facilitated by moderator and curator Dr. Siu Challons-Lipton, alongside her co-hosts, Astrid Bridgwood (Art History major), Madison Webster (Studio Art major), and Emma Henry (Arts Leadership & Administration major). Each student has served as a Gallery Assistant this semester, assisting in the hanging and curation of the exhibit and utilizing their diverse study of the arts to provide engaging and unique questions for the panel.
